Overview:

The Design and Development Engineer identifies and develops new designs and/or improve the characteristics of existing products to meet and exceed customer specifications, industry and federal/provincial regulations. The ideal candidate will be able to perform within a fast paced, custom fabrication environment, reporting to the Engineering Supervisor.

  • Review of Sales Orders to ensure that all Design specifications are as required.

In this role, you will ensure the accuracy of our production runs by setting up, pre-programming, and monitoring runs for quality.   • Supervise machine temperatures, ensure that machine has adequate warm-up and cool-down time between jobs and replace coolant periodically
  • Review and interpret cutting plans, enter them into control outlets before jobs and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary
  • Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning and tool replacement

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a CNC Machinist or other relevant role

Job Function Overview
Install truck bodies, hoists, lifts and tool boxes to a variety of truck chassis consistent with industry standards. Trailer and truck brake tests and road certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate overhead and jib cranes up to 3 tons.
  • Brake testing equipment operation.
  • Trailer safety certification.
  • Use various welding and cutting equipment including mig, tig, plasma and oxy/acetylene.
  • The ability to weld steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Truck frame length modifications.
  • Use of a variety hand and pneumatic tools to install truck bodies to truck chassis.
  • Use portable hand tools and measuring equipment consistent with industry standards.
  • Fabricate components and assemblies to specification as per drawings.
  • Ensure fit, finish and function to meet customer requirements and expectations.
  • Perform inspection of your own work.
  • Complete Quality Inspection Documentation as required.
  • Work effectively and efficiently to complete your work within the job standard.
  • Follow all company rules, policies and procedures at all times. (time clock, breaks, lunches, smoking etc.)
  • Use Lean Principles to eliminate waste in your area and become more efficient.
  • Follow 5S methodology to keep work place organized.
  • Keep scrap/rework to a minimum.
  • Contribute to cost reduction ideas and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties, as required.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ experience with trailer safety certification. (Preferred)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the fitting/welder discipline. (Preferred)
  • Able to read drawings work instructions and blueprints.
  • Ability to be certified in forklifts and cranes operations.
